Set Dümler & Breiden ceramic table lamp

A classic design in our selection, these vintage lamps have not aged since the 1970s.

Beautiful white glazed table lamp with new lampshade from Dümler & Breiden. The lamp is 47 cm high including lampshade and the diameter of the lampshade is 30 cm. The lamp has a stamp with numbers on the bottom and a stamp with Germany. The factory started production in 1883 and was founded in Höhr-Grenzhausen, a city known for its numerous ceramic factories. The founders were Peter Dümler (7/11/1860 - 19/04/1907) and his brother-in-law Albert Breiden (12/06/1860 - 27/05/1926). Peter was a designer and was trained by Reinhold Hanke and Simon Peter Gerz. Albert, who was taught by his uncle S.P. Gerz was responsible for the group. Peter died in 1907 and Albert took over the business with the help of Bertha, Peter's widow. Paul Dümler, the son of Peter, followed in his father's footsteps and designed the series Terra Sigillata (this work is based on the style of the old Roman earthenware). However, his career was very short because he did not return from the war. In 1918, a cousin named Ernst Dümler joined the group and took his place. In 1913, Albert had sold his share in the company. After the First World War, Albert headed the S.P. Gerz is supported by his two sons Adolf and Hermann. Albert died in May 1926 at the age of 65 and Hermann was appointed Managing Director of the S.P.Gerz Group. From the beginning, a lot of traditional earthenware such as beer mugs, punch bowls and jugs was produced. After the war, during the so-called "ceramic boom" in the 50s and 60s, the group experienced a phase of strong growth. From 1930 to the end of 1980, D & B was one of the leading ceramic factories. The markings contain a two- or three-digit shape number, followed by a slash and the size in centimeters. The word Germany is often used (like this lamp). The quality is very high, and the pieces are often characterized by their unique, unusual style with different shapes and glazes.
